Lawrence Bishnoi: From College Romance to Notorious 31 years Gangster – A Life Consumed by Tragedy and Revenge
Lawrence Bishnoi is a name that has already left an etched mark of his notorious criminal activities across various states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra as his name has already featured in the infamous list of India’s wanted criminals. Born into a well-to-do family as his father is a police officer in Haryana, Lawrence Bishnoi transformed himself from his college days as a student and took the shape of India’s most wanted criminal. A personal tragedy in his college days paved the way for his life.
Early Life and Love
Lawrence Bishnoi was raised in the glittering city of Abohar, Punjab. Being one of several siblings and hailing from a background of wealth, for the large tracts of land he and his family owned in the district placed him in an elite circle. In every respect, Lawrence’s childhood was privileged. However, his future was going to take a tragic turn, as he fell head over heels in love with a classmate at his convent school.
With the further deepening of the relationship, they shifted to Chandigarh, where both went to DAV College. The couple’s relationship continued quite nicely in this period, but in this time, Bishnoi also got into student politics and started leading the Student Organisation of Punjab University (SOPU). Unfortunately, this was the beginning of his eventual fall into criminality.
College Politics-the Turning Point
College politics was a turning point in Bishnoi’s life. Student union politics mixed him up with rival groups. Matters became worse at the time of student union election. Bishnoi was defeated by a rival group in the presidential election. He got infuriated and decided to get revenge. Bishnoi allegedly bought a revolver to regain his ground in the aggressive college political battlefield.
Things turned deadly in 2011 when Bishnoi’s alleged rivals targeted his girlfriend. She was reportedly set afire during the continuing cycle of revenge. The tragic death only served to further devastate Bishnoi, intensifying his resolve to retaliate against them.
This personal tragedy is believed to have heavily afflicted him and pushed him deeper into the realms of violence and crime. He is said to have begun vengeful activities against some of the student leaders involved in the incident, and this is when his connection with serious crime started to strengthen itself.
The growth of Lawrence Bishnoi in the underworld
The last devastating episode for Bishnoi acted like a catalyst in forging his way forward to become a feared gangster in no time. He expanded his influence, and what slowly started with his henchmen in Haryana, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra eventually spread like a virus and started multiplying into larger crimes across the states. His involvement in high-profile crimes marked him on the headlines, and the ghastly nature of these crimes only kept stepping him up as a permanent fixture of organized crime.
One of the crimes that catapulted Bishnoi to the national level was his alleged hand in the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. The nation was left in shock when it was revealed that Sidhu Moose Wala had been murdered by two hailers, for which Bishnoi was an important mastermind from his prison cell. The crime was reportedly linked to an old vendetta between rival warring gangs and was reported to have been ordered by Bishnoi from his prison.
Besides the Moose Wala case, Bishnoi was also accused of masterminding the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique. Siddique was shot dead by three attackers in Mumbai and police investigations pointed to his involvement. His name cropped up once again when a Facebook post allegedly connected to him threatened to haunt anyone who helped Salman Khan or the Dawood gang.
The Salman Khan Grudge
Lawrence Bishnoi’s direct link to Salman Khan starts from the very famous case of blackbuck poaching in 1998. The members of the Bishnoi community being highly religious about blackbucks, this incident of poaching did not sit well with them. They identified with the case because, at that time, the poet was just five years old, but the incident marked the turn of events for his personal grievance against Salman Khan.
All this hatred against Khan made Bishnoi so hostile that he started openly threatening the actor. It was said that his gang planned several attacks on Khan, but the law and authorities never allowed that to happen.
Life Behind Bars and Continued Influence
Although he is a prisoner, Bishnoi has stayed in great command over his organized crime outfit. His networking goes far beyond several states, and the law agencies are still unable to fully dissolve his module. It has now emerged that Bishnoi has been operating behind the bars, which is a point of worry for the authorities as they try to cut him off from his associates.
His name continues to be increasingly being linked with several ongoing enquiries, and criminal empire seems to have no slowing down its momentum. From planning murders to an organized extortion racket, Bishnoi appears to be expanding his reach at a point where he stands trail for multiple crimes.
The Sad Legacy of Lawrence Bishnoi
The Lawrence Bishnoi story is unique in the issues it has raised, which draw back into personal tragedy and revenge. Once a young man full of so much potential, his life went dark after the brutal murder of his girlfriend. What had the possibility of being an impressive future was driven by a desire for vengeance, turning him into India’s most infamous gangster.
While the crimes that brought him infamy hang around him like a personal loss that led him on that road, violence and retribution can consume lives. His account draws a stark contrast between his priviledged upbringing as it goes on to demonstrate the sorry state in which such a life of crime leads.
The ripples of his actions continue to reverberate across the states in which he operates as Bishnoi continues to face the full force of the law.
His story is one of both warning and how far one can fall when given over to hatred and revenge.
